ZixIt Corporation Enters Healthcare Market by Signing ZixMail(TM) Agreement With Sisters of Mercy Health System

DALLAS, Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- ZixIt Corporation (Nasdaq: ZIXI) announced today that Sisters of Mercy Health System (SMHS), the ninth largest multi-hospital system in the United States, has chosen the ZixMail(TM) secure messaging system to transmit and receive confidential files, records, and other sensitive information.

ZixMail enables SMHS's doctors and administrative staff to send and receive encrypted and digitally signed email files throughout its network of hospitals without changing their existing email addresses or their existing email systems. It protects confidential data from tampering, compresses files for quicker transmissions, and is easy to install and use. SMHS will launch its system-wide implementation of ZixMail on a region by region basis.

Skip Hubbard, vice president, information services at SMHS, said, "Considering we provide services by 28,900 employees and approximately 5,000 physicians who are employed or who practice at SMHS facilities, we must be committed to offering our hospitals, vendors, and patients the best-of-class technology solutions, particularly when it comes to secure online communications between hospitals, physician practices, outpatient clinics, insurance providers, and other health-related services. After thoroughly evaluating digital signature and encryption technologies, we found ZixMail to be the best-of-breed secure email solution that meets the stringent security and quality requirements of our hospital network. ZixMail's superior benefits and pricing make it the ideal solution for our secure email needs."

Doug Kramp, chief executive officer of ZixMail.com, Inc., commented, "This agreement with Sisters of Mercy Health System demonstrates the acute need for ZixMail in the healthcare industry. Hospital systems, like law firms, have a need to communicate confidential information with a multitude of companies. Those companies, in turn, require secure communications with a substantially new group of companies. Whenever a large enterprise like SMHS begins to use ZixMail for its own secure communications, ZixMail is spread naturally to all types of businesses and industries, exponentially increasing the ZixMail user base."

The Sisters of Mercy Health System-St. Louis operates hospitals, physician practices, outpatient clinics, health plans, and related health and human services in an eight-state area including Arkansas, Kansas, Illinois, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. Its members include 23 acute care hospitals providing nearly 7,000 licensed beds, a psychiatric hospital, a managed care subsidiary (Mercy Health Plans), physician practices, outpatient care facilities, home health programs, skilled nursing services, and long-term care facilities. Services are provided by 28,900 employees and approximately 5,000 physicians who are employed or who practice at SMHS facilities. SMHS is the ninth largest multi-hospital system in the United States, based on net patient service revenue.
