Dave Wagner

President & Chief Executive Officer


Dave Wagner joined Zix as President and Chief Executive Officer in January 2016. He is a member of Zix's Board of Directors. Prior to his role at Zix, Dave held leadership roles at Entrust for 20 years. Most recently Dave served as President of Entrust from 2013 through 2015, where he led the successful integration of Entrust after its acquisition by Datacard. Dave delivered revenue growth and led the re-investment strategy to move Entrust solutions to the cloud. He also served as Chief Financial Officer of Entrust from 2003 to 2013. Before joining Entrust, Dave held various finance and accounting positions at Nortel Networks and at Raytheon Systems. He is a graduate of The Pennsylvania State University where he received an undergraduate degree in accounting and a master’s of business administration.

 

Dave Rockvam

Vice President & Chief Financial Officer

 

Dave Rockvam joined Zix as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in June 2016. Dave brings a wealth of experience in the data security market and more than 20 years of experience in investor relations, financial planning, and business and corporate development. Prior to his role at Zix, Dave served in several executive roles during 18 years with Entrust, including Chief Investor Relations Officer and CFO of Asia Digital Media, an Entrust joint venture. He also held executive roles at Entrust such as General Manager of Entrust Certificate Services, Chief Marketing Officer, and SVP of Product Marketing. Dave began his career at Nortel Networks, where he served in various financial leadership positions. He earned a master of business administration from The University of Texas at Dallas and an undergraduate degree from Texas Tech University.

 

Nigel Johnson

Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, Business Development


Nigel Johnson joined Zix in April 2004 and serves as Vice President, Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Business Development. As CTO, he uses more than 20 years of IT security experience to guide Zix and our customers through a fast-evolving technology and cybersecurity landscape. He also fosters business development through OEM partnerships, including Cisco and Google, and leads international sales. Previously, Johnson served as Zix’s Vice President of Product Management, overseeing the development of industry-leading email encryption and the launch of Zix’s email data loss prevention and bring-your-own-device security capabilities. Prior to joining Zix, Nigel held senior management positions at Entrust Inc., including Vice President, Product Management and Vice President, Business Development. He previously worked at Nortel, where he developed classified military communications security systems. Nigel earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada, and is the inventor on several patents.

 

Geoff Bibby

Vice President, Marketing


Geoff Bibby joined Zix in September 2003 and serves as Vice President of Marketing. Geoff has more than 15 years of experience in high tech marketing. Prior to Zix, he spent 6 years at Entrust Inc., an internet security vendor, where he served in various management roles, including Marketing Director for Entrust European operations. Geoff earned a bachelor of commerce degree with honors in marketing from the University of Guelph in Guelph, ON, Canada.

 

Justin Ferguson

Vice President & General Counsel


Justin Ferguson joined Zix in November 2015. Prior to his role at Zix, Justin served as Senior Vice President – Director of Legal for GENBAND. He was previously an attorney at the law firms of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and Baker Botts L.L.P.  Justin received a Juris Doctorate degree, summa cum laude, from Texas Tech University School of Law and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, magna cum laude, from Texas Tech University. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and received the highest score on the Texas Bar Examination in the year that he was licensed.

 

Kelly Haggerty

Vice President, Product Management & Strategy


Kelly Haggerty joined Zix in April 2016. Kelly has more than 20 years of experience in the software security market. Prior to his role at Zix, he served as Chief Product Officer for, and consultant to, IID, a Software as a Service (SaaS) Security company. For eight years, Kelly held several leadership roles for McAfee (now Intel Security), including Vice President of Product Management for the Security Management Business Unit from 2010 to 2014 and Vice President of the SaaS Business Unit from 2008 to 2010. In addition, he held leadership roles in product management and product marketing at SurfControl (acquired by Websense) and Elron Software. Kelly earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Christopher Newport University with an emphasis on international business.

 

Steve Irons

Vice President, Sales


Steve Irons joined Zix in September 2003 and serves as Vice President, Sales. Steve is responsible for overall corporate sales, Zix channel partners and marketing programs. He has been a successful sales leader with Zix for several years and has more than 17 years of sales and sales management experience. Prior to Zix, Steve spent 6 years at Elron Software, an internet security vendor. Previously, he managed a successful sales team at Progress Software Corporation. Steve earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Northeastern University.

 

Bill Kadonsky

Vice President, Business Operations


Bill Kadonsky joined Zix in March 2004 and serves as Vice President, Business Operations. Bill is responsible for the company’s sales operations and sales support teams and business processing units. He focuses on improving organizational efficiency and expanding Zix's revenue generation capability. Prior to Zix, Bill served as Vice President and General Manager of Entrust@YourService, a PKI managed services business unit of Entrust, Inc. Previously, He was President of Practical Software Solutions, Inc., a technology and management consulting firm and also served as an analyst at the National Security Agency. Bill earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin.

 

Bhavin Merchant

Vice President, Corporate Development


Bhavin Merchant joined Zix in May 2017 and serves as Vice President, Corporate Development. He leads strategic growth initiatives for Zix, leveraging nearly 20 years of experience in technology investment banking. Before joining Zix, Bhavin led BVM Consulting from 2014 to 2017. Previously, he was a technology investment banker at Wells Fargo Securities, UBS Securities and Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. During his career he has completed 50 transactions totaling more than $5 billion, advising leading, global technology companies on strategy, business development, capital raising and merger and acquisitions. Bhavin earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

 

Russell Morgan

Vice President, Client Services


Russell Morgan has served as our Vice President, Client Services since September 2002. Prior to Zix, he worked at Entrust, Inc. in information technology security, where he held a variety of senior management positions, including director, professional services and senior director, Entrust.net. At Entrust, Russell founded the professional services organization and then managed the business and technical operations for the Entrust.net business unit. Previously, he held several management positions at Lockheed Martin (aerospace), where he specialized in secure messaging and military command and control systems. Russell is a professional engineer with 30 years experience in managing, delivering and supporting complex customer-focused technology solutions. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Concordia University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

 

David Robertson

Vice President, Engineering

David Robertson has served as our Vice President, Engineering since March 2002. David has over 30 years of experience in the internet and telecommunications industries, with specific expertise in hosted network architecture, security technology, communication protocols, software systems and wireless infrastructure. From 1981 through 2000, he was employed by Nortel Networks (telecommunications), where he held technology Vice President positions in the Wireless, Carrier and Enterprise Divisions. From 2001 to 2002, he participated in creating technology startup companies with STARTech Early Ventures (venture capital). He has been a participant in several industry standards-setting groups and serves with the City of Richardson Chamber of Commerce. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada, and a Master’s degree in Engineering from Carleton University, Canada.

Robert Hausmann

Robert Hausmann was elected to Zix's Board of Directors in November 2005, was elected Lead Independent Director in December 2012 and was elected Chairman of the Board in December 2014. Mr. Hausmann was co-founder, a director and Chief Financial Officer of TetraSun, Inc., a solar cell R&D and Manufacturing company that was sold to First Solar, Inc. in 2013. Prior to co-founding TetraSun, Mr. Hausmann was a consultant to public and private companies with respect to operational and financial management matters, including Sarbanes-Oxley and systems and process re-engineering. He also served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Securify, Inc. from September 2002 through June 2005. From September 1999 through September 2002, Mr. Hausmann served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Resonate, Inc. and managed the company's initial public offering. Prior to these positions, he served as Operations Partner and Chief Financial Officer of Mohr, Davidow Ventures, a Silicon Valley-based venture capital partnership, and as the Chief Financial Officer of Red Brick Systems, Inc., where Mr. Hausmann managed the company's initial public offering. Since September 30, 2016, Mr. Hausmann has served as a member of the board of directors of T2 Systems and is also a member of the audit committee. Mr. Hausmann earned a master's in business administration from Santa Clara University and a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Mark Bonney

Mark Bonney joined Zix’s Board of Directors in January 2013. He currently serves as President and CEO and a director of MRV Communications, Inc., a provider of converged packet and optical solutions for data network management. Mr. Bonney served as an independent director of MRV from April 2013 until joining the management team in August 2014. He also served as a director of Sigma Designs, Inc. from August 2012 through August 2015. He was executive vice president and CFO of Direct Brands, Inc., a direct to consumer media company from 2010 to 2012, vice president and the general manager of the Authentication Solutions Group of JDS Uniphase Corporation (JDSU) an optical technologies and telecommunications firm from 2008 to 2010 and executive vice president and CFO of American Bank Note Holographics, Inc., an optical security device company from 2005 to 2008, before the company’s sale to JDSU. Mr. Bonney also served as an outside director and chairman of the audit committee of American Bank Note Holographics, Inc. from 2003 until 2005. Mr. Bonney has also held executive roles with technology companies, including president, COO and a director of Axsys Technologies, Inc., a manufacturer of components and subsystems for aerospace, defense, data storage, medical and other high technology applications from 1999 to 2002 and CFO of Zygo Corporation, a manufacturer of metrology measurement and control systems and optical components for semiconductor, data storage and industrial markets from 1993 to 1999. He received a master’s degree from the University of Hartford and a bachelor’s degree from Central Connecticut State University.

Taher Elgamal

Taher Elgamal was elected to Zix's Board of Directors in July 2011. Dr. Elgamal currently serves as CTO Security at Salesforce.com. He is also co-founder and Chairman of IdentityMind, Inc. and serves as a director of Intelligent Fiber Optic Systems Corporation and Vindicia, Inc. Dr. Elgamal has also held executive roles at technology and security companies, including as CEO of First Information Security from 2012 to 2013, CSO of Axway, Inc. from 2008 to 2011, CTO of Tumbleweed Communications from 2006 to 2008, CTO of Securify, Inc. from 2001 to 2004, CEO and president of Securify, Inc. from 1998 to 2001 and chief scientist of Netscape Communications from 1995 to 1998. Dr. Elgamal is a recipient of the RSA Conference 2009 Lifetime Achievement Award, and he is recognized as the "father of SSL," the Internet security standard Secure Sockets Layer. Dr. Elgamal was issued several patents in online security, payments and data compression. He received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Cairo University, a master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University and a doctorate in electrical engineering from Stanford University.

Maribess Miller

Maribess Miller was elected to Zix's Board of Directors in April 2010. Ms. Miller was a member of the public accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP from 1975 until 2009, including serving as the North Texas Market Managing Partner from 2001 until 2009; as Southwest Region Consumer, Industrial Products and Services Leader from 1998 until 2001; and as Managing Partner of that firm's U.S. Healthcare Audit Practice from 1995 to 1998. Since July 2014, Ms. Miller has served as a member of the board of directors for Triumph Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ: TBK) and is currently chair of the nominating and governance committee and member of the audit committee. Ms. Miller is also a member of the board of directors and chair of the audit committee for Midmark Corporation, a privately-held medical supply company. She served on the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy from 2009-2015, is past Board Chair for the Texas Health Institute and serves on the boards of the TCU Neeley School of Business and the North Texas Chapter of the National Association of Corporate Directors. She graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in accounting from Texas Christian University. Ms. Miller is a certified public accountant.

Richard Spurr

Richard Spurr was elected to Zix's Board of Directors in May 2005. He previously served as Zix's Chief Executive Officer from March 2005 to January 2016 and was Chairman of the Board from February 2006 to December 2014. Mr. Spurr brings more than 30 years of IT experience in building sales, marketing and operations departments in corporate environments. Prior to joining Zix, he served as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales, Marketing & Business Development for Securify, Inc. From 1997 to 2001 he served in several senior executive positions at Entrust, Inc. including VP of Sales, Marketing, Business Development and Professional Services, helping to take this technology company from an early stage to and beyond the initial public offering. From 1991 to 1996, he served in several senior executive positions at SEER Technologies, Inc. and from 1974 to 1990, he worked for IBM Corporation where, as Regional Manager, he was responsible for over 1,000 employees, and as group director in Tokyo, where he managed a $1.2 billion Asia Pacific business. Mr. Spurr earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame.
