ZixCorp provides an easy and cost-effective email encryption service for privacy and regulatory compliance. ZixCorp’s PocketScript® e-prescribing service provides clinical decision support at the point-of-care with real-time access to patient-level eligibility, formulary, and co-pay information to aid prescribers in selecting the most cost-effective prescription based on the member’s benefits. Deployed through a secure wireless PDA or secure Web site, PocketScript reduces costs, improves patient safety and convenience, and enhances physician practice efficiency. PocketScript enables users to order and deliver prescriptions electronically to the patient’s preferred pharmacy. The system also provides comprehensive drug-to-drug and drug-to-allergy interaction alerts based on patient-specific medication history, and maintains a comprehensive drug reference guide to assist in prescribing decisions. PocketScript is certified with RxHub, SureScripts and Per Se to enable end-to-end prescribing, and is further recognized as a SureScripts GoldRx solution provider.

Company History
ZixCorp’s accomplishments in incorporating innovative technology to improve business practices have been evident from the beginning. Though the path from electronic toll collection to email encryption and e-prescribing may at first seem to diverge, it is actually based on one simple idea: using software technology to make existing systems more efficient, convenient, and cost effective.
ZixCorp began as Amtech Corporation. Founder David Cook — after founding another company known for technological streamlining, Blockbuster Video — created Amtech to take advantage of radio-frequency identification (“RFID”) technology and developed the first ever electronic TollTag® system.
After divesting Amtech’s RFID business, the company began to develop a digital signature encryption system for the Internet and renamed itself ZixIt Corporation. ZixMail® was the company’s first product, which debuted in 2000.
Beginning in early 2002, ZixCorp began a transformation to focus more on enterprise needs, introducing several new delivery components and changing the name to Zix Corporation. In 2003, the company expanded its scope further by purchasing PocketScript®, an electronic prescription provider. |
